Britt Weinstock (Class of 1996) has worked in the fields of health policy, public health planning, assessment and evaluation, health financing and health equity for more than two decades and has received numerous awards from national organizations recognizing her work in these fields. Today, Dr. Weinstock is the Principal and Chief Strategist for the Health Equity Group, LLC – a firm that provides respected strategic and legislative counsel in public health, health policy and health equity in the international, federal, and state policy realms.
Dr. Weinstock previously served as the Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Primary Health and Retirement on the Senate HELP Committee in the Office of Senator Bernard Sanders. In this role, Dr. Weinstock advised Senator Sanders on issues including prescription drug prices, dental and oral health care equity, the opioid epidemic, the health workforce and community health center funding, efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, and initiatives to advance health equity.
She also served – for nearly ten years – as the Director of Health Policy to the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Health Braintrust where she was responsible for a very broad range of public health, health policy and health care issues, and served as the chief counsel to and helped to develop the legislative health and health budget agenda of the CBC during each congressional session. Additionally, she worked very closely with and advised the Congressional Tri Caucus offices to ensure consistency of political message and position on health legislation across the racial and ethnic minority congressional offices, as well as with the Congressional Rural Health and Global Health Caucuses to advance sound rural and international health policy, respectively.
Prior to her professional tenure on Capitol Hill, Dr. Weinstock held professional positions at Families USA, the National Business Group on Health, the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, and the American Association for World Health.
Dr. Weinstock was born in Germany and spent her formative years in western and southern Africa, She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology, with a co-specialization in medical sociology and social inequality, and a minor in bioethics, from Howard University; a Master of Arts degree – with a concentration in social and public policy – from Georgetown University; and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bucknell University where she was an RA at 7th Street House, a writing tutor, and very involved with the Black Student Union and Bucknell International Students Association.

Dr. Kevin J. Mullins (Class of 1987) is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in the management of spinal and cranial disorders. He has performed a full spectrum of over 6,000 neurosurgical operations ranging from minimally invasive to complex spinal reconstruction. Dr. Mullins is a strong believer in utilizing evidence-based medicine in the decision-making process for all of his patients, with surgical intervention reserved for those patients who have exhausted all non-surgical options.
Dr. Mullins has been in practice on Long Island since 1998 and enjoys multiple hospital affiliations throughout the region. Today, he is the Medical Director of SpineCare Long Island, a practice focused on providing compassionate and convenient care for patients with spinal disorders. And for many years, Dr. Mullins also served as the Chairman of the Neuroscience Service Line at Catholic Health Services Long Island and Chief of Neurosurgery at both Good Samaritan Hospital and Southside Hospital.
Dr. Mullins recruited multiple new neurosurgeons into his practices and began the process of developing state of the art neurosurgical services at both hospitals, including the creation of neurosurgical subspecialties and fellowship training in neuro-oncology and spine surgery.
Prior to this, he was Director at Harvey Cushing Neuroscience Institute and a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. And he’s been a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Mullins received his Medical Degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and did his Internship/Neurosurgical Residency there as well. He’s also completed Advanced Training in Spine Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated Bucknell with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Minors in Biochemistry and Latin. He was a member of the Bison wrestling and rugby teams and a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

Kerry Marks Hasenbalg (Class of 1994) is the CEO of BECOMING Foundation, Inc., and serves as the community member of the Ethics Board at Geisinger Medical Center, where she lives in Danville, PA.
Kerry is a respected speaker, writer, and child welfare advocate. She has authored curricula for faith communities on soul-care and reconciliation. In her advocacy work, Kerry has secured funding for innovative health programs like the Fresh Food Pharmacy to address food insecurity in rural Pennsylvania and midwifery clinics in communities with high infant/maternal mortality rates, both at home and abroad. She has forged partnerships between medical-service providers and charitable organizations to address the medical disabilities of orphans and vulnerable children who would otherwise lack access.
She began her professional career on Capitol Hill as the Fellow of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption (CCA), a bipartisan, bicameral caucus of more than 170 members of Congress. In 2002, together with the four congressional co-chairs, Kerry created the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute. As the organization’s founding executive director, she worked closely with congressional members on child welfare issues in the U.S. and abroad. Under her leadership, all five of the organization’s main programs were created, including the congressional Foster Youth Internship program, National Adoption Day, the Angels in Adoption Awards, and the Congressional Resource Program on Child Welfare. Kerry has visited more than 50 countries, and led more than a dozen congressional delegations abroad, meeting with high-ranking government officials and the poorest of the poor in every location, to advocate for improved child welfare policies and practices.
Before her work in D.C., she spent three years serving in Russia as an interpreter for charitable organizations and providing care for orphans and street children. Outside of her ongoing advocacy work, Kerry currently divides her time between facilitating retreats and homeschooling three of her four children.
A magna cum laude graduate, Kerry earned dual degrees in Russian and International Studies. She did post-graduate work at the American University in Russian Studies and Calvary Chapel Bible College, focusing on counseling and Biblical studies.
As a Bucknell student, Kerry was a part of both the Study Abroad and Semester at Sea programs and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

A former NFL running back for the Washington Commanders Football Team (formerly: Washington Redskins), the Detroit Lions, and Philadelphia Eagles, Ken Jenkins (Class of 1982) is currently an insurance executive and Senior Advisor Corporate Services at NFP in Bethesda Maryland where he serves the company’s Commercial, Benefits, Retirement, and Individual clients and has developed an especially strong clientele in the large Non-profit and Government contracting arenas in the Washington metropolitan area.
Ken has also been tapped to lead his company’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging task force regionally and nationally, also at his alma mater – the Landon School in Bethesda, MD – where has served on the board of trustees, and he has been a featured guest and facilitator on the subject for the Greater Washington Board of Trade.
Most recently, Ken and his wife, Dr. Amy Lewis, have led the effort to eliminate the blatantly racist policy of “Race Norming” in the National Football League Concussion lawsuit. They have been featured on ESPN, CNN, News Nation, NBC, and other news sources and have been the centerpiece of articles written on the subject by the Associated Press, Washington Post, The Atlantic and many more. They will also appear in several documentaries to air this fall.
Ken earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was a member of the Bison Football Team, the Black Student Union, and Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. In 1987, and after multiple awards and recognition for his talents on the gridiron as an undergraduate, Ken was inducted into the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame.
